Le Palazzo Essaouira
Boutique Hôtel & Rooftop
This Boutique Hotel & Rooftop is a place steeped in history.
Today, it enjoys a new lease on life, blending authenticity with a more contemporary take on Moroccan craftsmanship.
This former 19th-century patrician residence, once used as a storage house by the Sultan of the city—who traded with the world from the port of Essaouira—was transformed into a charming hotel in the mid-20th century under the name “Palazzo Desdemona,” a tribute to Orson Welles, who stayed here during the filming of his famous movie Othello.
On the upper floors, which once housed the master of the house's private apartments, twelve bright rooms and suites with exceptional ceiling heights are arranged around two magnificent patios filled with lush greenery.
The Rooftop, with its spectacular view of the ocean, city walls, and rooftops of the medina, has become a must-visit spot in Essaouira — ideal for enjoying the scenery, having lunch or dinner, or sipping a cocktail while watching the sunset.
The Fish Bar, located in the hotel's stunning dining room, showcases the richness and freshness of the sea’s bounty.
